It’s been a while since I’ve done a book review, and I’ve been waiting a long time to do this one, and entire year almost. Last October (2014), I was approached by one of the authors (Erin) asked if I would be willing to contribute as an expert on marriage and sexuality in an upcoming book project. Of course, I was thrilled at the idea, and over the next few weeks I answered some questions and also offered some of my survey data to help support some of the points they had made in the book because I got the privilege of reading the advanced copies (perks of being a contributor). I couldn’t put the book down, it was a fun read. Of course, it’s geared towards women, but this isn’t the first time I’ve read a book that was intended for the other gender, in fact, I quite enjoy getting a peak inside the female mind. It helps me understand my wife better. In fact, I couldn’t wait to continue reading it. I was send the book in pieces as the editors released section by section, so I was constantly put on hold, waiting for the next bit. Once I was done, I was a bit sad, because there was no more to read. I think that’s how a book should be. It should end before you get tired of it, not the other way around.
Then I had to wait a year to actually see the final product, which just turned up in my mailbox the other day, with all the final edits, including a cover page, a title change (there used to be only 10 secrets), and, well, this time it was a physical book. I’ll be honest, it was more than a little cool to see my name and this blog referenced throughout the book (including in the acknowledgments, that’s a first for me). It’s nice to be able to contribute to a project like this.
So, as is my habit, I’m going to share the table of contents with you to give you a sense of the architecture of the book:
Of course there’s an Introduction and Acknowledgements, but the real chapters are:
- The Hot Mama Way
- Thou Shalt Enjoy Sex
- Confidence Is Key
- Throw Out the Guilt
- Hot Dates over Playdates
- Getting over Our Good Girl Issues
- Get in the Mood
- Let’s Talk about Sex, Baby
- Speak Respect
- Keep Sex out of the Locker Room
- Heat Things Up
- Knowing Your Man
- What Happens in the Bedroom, Happens in Our Bedroom
And then there are some bonus sections:
- Ask our Sexperts
- Girlfriend-to-girlfriend (of which I’m an honorary girlfriend and my contributions are largely contained here)
- More Tips from Real Hot Mamas
- Continuing You Hot Mama Journey
In short, this book is by two Christian wives who are struggling to maintain a “Hot Mama” attitude, to find a balance between mother and sexy wife, to not lose the relationship that started their family, while still continuing to be a caregiver for their family. It’s a struggle that many women face and it did a good job of addressing some of the struggles as well as encouraging and sharing tips and tricks from the authors as well as other wives and sexperts (and myself…can you tell I’m excited to be in this book?).
It if sounds like something that can help you, you can find the book at Amazon.com in either kindle or paperback editions (Note: it’s nice to see the kindle edition at about half the price of the physical copy).
I think from the looks of it will be a great book. It looks,as if it will help alot of women who struggle with their sexuality. I on the other hand want to make a book for women with the title “When She’s the High Drive.”
